Recipe: Gingerbread

  •  1 cup molasses.
  •  2 tbsps. butter.
  •  1 tsp. ginger.
  •  1 pint flour.
  •  1/2 cup sour milk.
  •  1 tsp. soda.
  •  1 egg.

Put the molasses and butter in a pan and set on the stove. When the mixture boils up add the soda and ginger, and take from the fire immediately. Add the[118] milk, the well-beaten egg and the flour, beat well. Bake in a shallow CAKE pan in a rather quick oven for 20 minutes.
